The Void
Keywords:
Limitless potential and shocking truth
The
Void is a blank white card: there may be some faint pattern or swirling
within the white, but if it is seen there it is very subtle and no seen
by everyone in the same way. Around the edges of the card are crude
simplistic glyphs of the other 21 major images in random order. These
are in black on white, separated by thin black lines, as if they are
rough sketches. These are, in fact, the originals in potential, the
glyphs from which the power-dreams of the Trumps are defined in each
of the Three Realms.
The
Void is the limitless potential of all the images, particularly the
major cards. In all Elemental realities (the world-views or holisms
of our various wisdom traditions), the Four Powers or Elements issue
out of the Void, which is the Unbeing from which Being appears. This
is the origin of all polarities: the Elements iterate and reiterate,
and the powers and people, or Trumps and Court cards, are the result
of limitless Elemental patterns.
In
our card embodying The Void, we see the living emptiness, the source
of Being and simple glyphs for each of the major powers that arise out
of the Elements. These powers are in turn embodied in the Trumps or
major cards through the Three Realms. Each major card has within it
an Elemental affinity to certain Numbers, and to the people or Court
cards. Thus each Trump has all the Elements within it in certain patterns
and these patterns (the related numbers) are unique to that Trump.
The
Void, however, has all Trumps, numbers and people potentially within
it. When it appears in a pattern or personal reading it reveals limitless
potential or shocking truth. Limitless potential because it embodies
all other cards, and shocking truth because it shows that all events
are connected and so may reveal connections that were previously unknown
to us.
