The Trump of The Stone shows a quartz granite rock with veins of crystal and minerals within it. It rises out of a flat grassy plain and has mosses growing upon it. The light of early morning shows a flight of birds arising from a distant rock formation.

This card reveals the power of the Stone Realm, with the rock rising out of the Underworld to the surface. The veins of crystal and minerals or metals indicate the hidden resources and knowledge of the Gnomes, the knowers of the earth. The Stone itself is a navel or central stone, the pivot of all Four Elements. We will see it again in several variants in the deeper Trumps and Court cards.

In a reading, vision or meditation, this card indicates strong powers in the material life pattern, with emphasis upon the physical form and outer events. Much of The Stone, however, is in the Underworld, so it always indicates form and pattern from the depths, and may also reveal hidden potential that is about to surface.
