The Court of Messengers:
Element of Air

The Court of Messengers embodies the power of the Element of Air in the Underworld. Air is mobile, changeable, inspirational. Its people are Messengers, communicators, heralds. The Messengers embodied by the cards may be human, angelic or of other orders of life such as the Elemental Sylphs, beings primarily of air, faery contacts or other life-forms from the Realms. Traditionally angels are the messengers between humanity and divinity, and in the Dreampower cards angels are most frequently found as the messengers of the surface and Stone Realm, as they extend into the airy heavens which humanity identifies as being 'above'. In the deeper Realms, we find many more people of the other Courts, though there are no distinct boundaries, and each Court is present in each Realm. Messengers are also found in the birds and animals, through the augury of their sound and movement, and each Court has its spiritual creatures that embody the specific powers of that Court and its primary Element.

The Herald of Messengers

Air and Air

This is the warrior or herald, who may be male or female or both. He/she has a naked androgynous body, slim and light, with a thin face and a corona of medium length hair of various faint rainbow colours. The herald is naked, with a thin wrap that covers breasts and genitals, as the gender is a mystery. This figure has no wings, but the wrap becomes a great turbulence in the air around and behind the herald, as if the power of flight is the wrap or veil itself.

This image embodies all youthful air contacts (regardless of physical or solar age) with the following qualities: changeable and unpredictable behaviour; high intelligence; sharp accuracy in communication and perception; minimal emotion, maximum intellect; impetus towards constant transformation and ceaseless motion.
