Irritation - The Salamander of the number Five is a being of burning heat. In Kabbalistic tradition this is the flaming Seraphim, a guarding and purifying angel of Fire. From the relaxation of the Four, the energy builds into the Five, and its quality of irritation may be expressed in many ways. It is the discomfort of purifying Fire, the pain of excess that needs purging and balancing, and, more subtly, the Fire within that does not allow us to stand still and stagnate. Often the Five is thought to be a Fire power from outside ourselves, but like the irritation of anger which is its most obvious variant, it actually comes from within and may be consciously controlled through a pure intent (Three) and an illuminated awareness (Six).
