Greetings!
Some
people have been asking "where are you?" though
this is easy to see from the Calendar (I hope). Right now
I am living on the world’s smallest houseboat in Sausalito,
not far from San Francisco. To play my cittern or guitar,
I have to open a window to stick the neck of the instrument
out, but the applause from the seagulls, cormorants, and Great
Blue herons makes it all worthwhile. My non-travelling work
is mainly done in the world’s smallest office, on land,
in Sausalito. Providing I do not open a large book or unroll
any postage stamps, I can write in comfort.
There
have been many substantial changes this year, with workshops,
musical projects, and the ever- expanding Tree of Life course.
As is often the case, the early inspiration for change started
some time ago, back in late 1999. Now that many of the changes
have manifested, I can tell you about some of them in this
newsletter. If you are really impatient, there is an exciting
item right at the end of this newsletter!
Workshops
are moving in three main directions:
The
first is a new program of Faery Ritual Magic workshops, leading
up to a powerful form called The Magic of Three Sticks. For
next year I have some further new teachings and practical
work within this form, which will be revealed in the spring.
The
second is a series of Tree of Life workshops, usually held
as one-day events, though some are weekend workshops. These
events allow us to explore and learn ways of working with
the Tree of Life, in English, that are direct, clear, and
unambiguous. While writing my Tree of Life Course, I have
developed a series of exercises, meditations, and spiritual
techniques that have not been taught before, and which have
not been published in any popular books on Kabbalah or magical
arts. Some of these are new, and some are forms that I learned
and practiced during my 30 years or so of working with the
Tree of Life.
In
addition to these two paths, I have started a third new workshop
series, which integrates the Tree of Life with my existing
long running Inner Temples/Priests and Priestesses program,
which I have taught in the USA and Europe from 1988 to the
present day. This is called The Tree of Life and Temple Magic.
It is full of surprises, and (like the other two) emphasizes
direct practical work, that brings noticeable results and
transformations.
PUBLISHING
AND MUSIC
After
a pause of a year or more, I am pleased to say that publishing
and music are both now revitalized.
A
NEW CD, appearing soon!!!
MAGICAL
BALLADS: recorded live, at a presentation and concert
in the spring of 2001. The pagan and magical imagery and mythic
world of the ballads is explained, with many examples and
comparisons. Ballads interpreted and sung in full include:
The Wife of Ushers Well, Thomas Rhymer, Tam Lin, Young Beichan,
The Two Brothers, The Lailly Worm, and more. This recording
was made in an Elizabethan style Great Hall, and has a wonderful
ambience. The release of the CD will be announced on this
Website, and you will be able to buy it mail order, or from
local bookstores.
Living
Magical Arts, Advanced Magical Arts
Work
has started again on the reprints of my two Magical Arts books,
which have been out of print for some years. They will be
reprinted by Thoth Publications, in the UK, and will be available
in the USA. These were originally subtitled "magic and
the imagination for the 21st century" so perhaps
we needed the delay to bring them into their appropriate time!
Faery
Healing
I
am very pleased to say that this book will be published by
the spring of next year, and earlier if possible. It will
be with a new publisher, and full details will be announced
closer to publication date. This book has changed a lot since
it was originally conceived, especially as a result of doing
the Faery series of workshops. There are several hundred people
in the USA now who practice the Faery Healing methods, and
their feedback to me has been invaluable in the last stages
of writing the book.
Tree
of Life Course
Now
beginning its second year of writing, the Course has become
a large project. I expect to be writing it for at least another
year, possibly more. Envisioned as four modules, this project
has taken on a powerful life of its own, with many new techniques
and insights coming through inspirationally. My problem, as
writer, is to decide what can be left out, rather than to
hunt for something to include! As this is all original material,
it bypasses the usual stuff found in general publication,
but follows the basic pattern of the Tree of Life known within
the Western tradition.
The
Dreampower Tarot
The
Harper-Collins edition of the Dreampower Tarot is now out
of print, and becoming difficult to obtain, though some stock
can still be found in bookstores, or on the Internet. There
is a considerable demand for the decks, so if you want one,
don’t delay searching. All rights have reverted to me,
and to the remarkable British artist Stuart Littlejohn, who
painted the deck according to my visionary designs.
My
plan is to have the deck reprinted, as a deck-only pack, with
no booklet. This will be an enhanced deck, with some changes
to the keywords on the cards. I am currently discussing this
with one publisher, and am willing to consider other publishers
who may be interested. At the same time, a CD-rom will be
created which will replace the old booklet, and add a substantial
amount of new material that is not in the booklet or currently
on the Dreampower Website. Meanwhile, watch for some updates
to the Dreampower Tarot online resources: I have a lot of
material to go on there, and it should start going up soon.
LAST
BUT NOT LEAST: Next year there will be a tour of
ancient temples in Greece, in the spring.
